Meet The Team

KRIS POTTER

The Sarnia native played high school basketball at St. Clair Secondary School before moving on to Wilfrid Laurier University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology and Physical Education. He also holds a Master's Degree in Education from Griffith University in Australia, where he finished out his playing career. 

Kris is the head coach of the Senior Girl's Basketball team at A.B. Lucas Secondary School in London and is also one of the school Guidance Counsellors. Since becoming the coach in 2015, Kris has taken his team to OFSAA multiple years and guided the Vikings to the program's first-ever Gold Medal at the 2016 AAA OFSAA Championship Tournament. Kris was the recipient of Canletes Ontario High School Coach of the Year Award in 2016 and was also recognized by the City of London for his contributions to sport in the London community. Kris has played basketball at a high level and understands the importance of teaching fundamentals. He continues to coach and loves to share his passion for the game with others.

LESLIE POTTER

Leslie holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Kinesiology from York University with a specialized certification in Coaching. In 2000, she successfully completed her NCCP Advanced Coaching Certificate as part of her undergraduate degree. After which, she was hired on as the Women's Varsity Team's Assistant Coach. While completing her undergraduate degree at York, Leslie played on the Women’s Basketball Team for five years and holds the school's record for all-time leader in both minutes played and assists made. She is also top ten all-time leading scorers in the program's history. She was named OUA All-Star three consecutive years and helped her team to a silver medal at the CIS National Championships in 1997.  Following her years at York, Leslie extended her career overseas, playing professionally in Australia (WNBL) and later competed in the World Masters Games, twice earning Gold Medals for Canada, first in Italy, in 2013 and then in New Zealand, in 2017. Leslie continues to coach youth sports at various levels and is an educator in the Byron area.

Elevate Coaches and Counsellors

At Elevate Basketball Camps, we select experienced coaches and counsellors with an enthusiasm for working with youth. All coaches are there to ensure that every camper has an amazing and unique camp experience, in a safe and fun learning environment.

Specialist Instructor

Dr. Shauna Burke, MA, PhD

Associate Professor University of Western Ontario ​

Professor Burke has worked with many high level sports teams, including the Western University Men's hockey team and various OHL players. Professor Burke has also published numerous book chapters and peer-reviewed research articles in the areas of physical activity, group dynamics, and public health. In the context of Elevate Basketball Camps, Professor Burke works in the classroom with our athletes, assisting them to improve the mental aspects of their game through positive self talk, visualization and imagery. Professor Burke has received numerous prestigious awards in recognition of her excellence in mentorship and teaching and is a valued member of the Elevate Staff and family.
